Our Story

Out of Washington State, a talented artist named Taylor Tom lived within the walls of a correctional facility. Despite being confined behind bars, Taylor’s artistic spirit knew no boundaries. He poured his emotions and dreams onto paper, creating masterpieces that spoke volumes about his resilience.

In the solitude of his cell, Taylor often wondered about his fellow incarcerated artists. He knew there were many hidden talents, artists with potential locked away from the world, just like him. He yearned to unite them, give them a voice, and create a platform that would showcase their Art and provide them with an opportunity to thrive despite their circumstances.

One day a vision of a magazine that would be exclusively for incarcerated individuals currently doing positive things with their time, such as Art. He named it “Designed Conviction.” This magazine would be more than just a collection of artworks; it would be a testament to the indomitable human spirit, proving that creativity and talent could thrive even in the darkest corners.

Taylor became consumed by the idea, and he shared his vision with his family and friends seeking their help in making “Designed Conviction” a reality. The response was overwhelming. They were moved by Taylor’s passion and determination and committed to supporting his cause in any way they could.

“Designed Conviction” became a medium for incarcerated artists to express themselves, share their stories, and showcase their talent to the world. Its beauty and emotion moved art enthusiasts, activists, and influential figures in the community. Support poured in, leading to collaborations with organizations dedicated to prison reform and rehabilitation through Art.
